Back Pain

Research shows that 8 out of 10 Americans suffer from Low Back Pain.  Contrary to popular belief, many people who are afflicted with low back pain have not suffered from a recent trauma, such as an slip, twist  fall or collision.  Low back pain can  be caused by both blunt injury and a more subtle accumulation injury via improper body mechanics in things as simple as poor posture, sitting, work habits, lifting, exercise (or lack of) and a variety of other lifestyle related factors. Both blunt trauma and improper body mechanics results in compromising the spinal and muscular integrity, which can lead to a painful back problem. When pain is occurring in the back often spastic muscles are trying to protect the injured or stressed tissues within that area.

Dr. Ducey-Clark’s approach is to identify the underlying cause of the pain (the functional cause), and to treat the problem by restoring the normal motion and position to the affected spinal bones using specific chiropractic adjustments and conjunctive therapies.  This approach has been supported by numerous research projects and is supported in the Rand study in helping patients return to a pain free life and sometimes even avoid risky surgery.

Dr. Ducey-Clark will determine if you are a candidate for treatment within her clinic based on detailed history and assessment of your initial examination.  Once your assessment has been completed, she will design your own personalized treatment plan that will fit your lifestyle and healthcare goals.
